It looks like Apple might finally be folding (pun very much intended). According to fresh leaks, the long-rumored foldable iPhone—possibly called the “iPhone Fold”—could launch in 2026 alongside the iPhone 18 lineup.
And in true Apple fashion, it won’t come cheap. A new post on Weibo by reliable tipster Instant Digital says the foldable iPhone could start anywhere between $2,100 and $2,300. That’s way above Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 6, which starts at $1,899.99. But hey, you didn’t really expect Apple to go bargain-bin with this, did you?
What We Might Get
Leaks point to a device with:
- A 5.5-inch outer display for quick tasks.
- A 7.8-inch inner display with a nearly 4:3 aspect ratio, turning it into a mini iPad when unfolded.
In other words, Apple’s likely gunning for the productivity crowd here, like Samsung and Google already are—but with Apple polish slapped on top.
One key highlight is the crease. You know, that annoying line you see every time you open a foldable? Apple’s apparently working hard to make it disappear, or at least make it way less noticeable. If they pull that off, that alone could be a game-changer.
Why Apple Might Pull This Off
We’ve heard before from analyst Ming-Chi Kuo that the iPhone Fold would be expensive. This new leak just makes that price range feel more real. But Apple might be showing up fashionably late for a reason.
Unlike Android OEMs, who are still figuring out big-screen UI, Apple already has a head start thanks to iPadOS. If they combine that with their usual ecosystem magic, we could finally get a foldable that feels like it was built for the mainstream.
My Thoughts?
Honestly, if this leak holds up, 2026 could be Apple’s biggest iPhone shake-up since they ditched the home button on the iPhone X. Yeah, it’s late to the party—but Apple has a knack for showing up late and still becoming the life of it.
Do I think it’ll sell? Absolutely. Foldables might still feel a bit “beta” right now, but if Apple nails the design, kills the crease, and pairs it with buttery-smooth software, people will line up—$2,300 price tag and all.
I wouldn’t drop two Gs just to be an early adopter of Apple’s first foldable. I’ll wait for version 2 or 3 when the tech matures, the bugs are squashed, and the price (hopefully) drops below kidney-level. But that’s just me.
What about you—would you go foldable if it’s Apple doing it?
