Notion has announced Notion Mail, its first email client, at the “Make with Notion” conference, signalling a significant step in expanding its productivity suite.
Currently, in preview, Notion Mail functions more like a Gmail client than a full-fledged email service. The aim is to reinvent the inbox experience by integrating email with Notion’s unique workflows, where users can manage emails alongside tasks and notes without leaving the platform.
The launch date remains vague, with Notion promising it will be available “soon.” Eager users can join a waitlist for early access, though.
With over 100 million users, Notion has been broadening its productivity tools. The introduction of Notion Mail follows the recent rollout of Notion Calendar, stemming from its acquisition of Cron, a calendar app, in 2022.
Similarly, Notion’s new email client appears to build on the recent acquisition of Skiff, a privacy-focused email service offering end-to-end encryption. Notion Mail may borrow design elements from Skiff, but its focus leans toward streamlined functionality and AI-powered features rather than heavy privacy measures.
Notion Mail integrates Notion AI to help users organize their inboxes automatically, setting filters for categories like recruiting or project updates. This AI also assists with scheduling and follow-ups, making managing the back-and-forth of professional communication easier.
Another standout feature is prioritized email filtering, something Gmail lacks outside its primary inbox view. Additionally, users can integrate Notion Mail with Notion Calendar, enabling direct scheduling options within emails.
More New Notion Features
Besides Mail, Notion has introduced new features like Notion Forms, enhanced layout customization, and new automation options, including Gmail integrations. Rounding out the updates is a redesigned Marketplace, making it easier to discover integrations.
Notion Mail and these new tools reflect Notion’s intent to create a comprehensive workspace that supports email, calendars, tasks, and documents within a unified platform.
