If you’re looking for a nice mid-range phone that can do everything well, you’ve probably thought about the Tecno Camon 19. The device came out in mid-2022 and is still available at this time in 2023.
I bought mine in January 2023 and have been using it for several months and I have a lot to say about the device. I hope my experience with the Tecno Camon 19 will help you decide whether it’s worth buying. Here’s my detailed hands-on review of the device.
What’s In the Box?
The Tecno Camon 19’s packaging looks great with a white and blue box. You’ll find the following items in the box; a fast-charging brick, a USB-C cable, a pair of earphones, a transparent cover, a sim ejection tool, and a warranty card.
The all-white accessories feel expensive and you’ll have three different phone colors to choose from—Digital Green, Sea Salt White, and Eco Black. All these colors look awesome by the way.

Tecno Camon 19 Design and Build Quality
The Tecno Camon 19 is quite big in the hands, what we used to call a phablet back in the day before big phones became the standard. However, it’s not as heavy as it looks weighing in at 198 grams.
In terms of thickness, the Tecno Camon 19 is a moderately thick phone. One gripe I have with this device is the fact that despite its thickness, it bends quite easily if you sit on it accidentally. I’ve seen it happen to a few people as you can see in the picture below:
The seemingly compromised structure aside, it looks like a premium device with its elegant back finish and glossy glass display. The fact that the back and the sides are all made of plastic doesn’t take anything away from the build quality of the Tecno Camon 19.
Tecno Camon 19 Display and Camera
The display on the Camon 19 looks great, you would easily mistake it for a flagship Samsung device unless you have the side-by-side.
What I liked about this phone is that the display doesn’t show any pixels unless you’re really keen unlike many other devices even from Samsung at the same price point. This is despite being a massive 6.8-inch display panel.
With such a quality display, you’ll enjoy watching videos and playing games on the Tecno Camon 19.
In the camera department, the Camon 19 also does a decent job with its 64MP triple camera setup. The camera is good enough for everyday photography and needs good lighting to get great photos and videos. It may struggle a bit taking night shots.
Overall, the camera is good especially the front camera if you like taking selfies and making video calls for work or friends and family.
Tecno Camon 19 Performance and Audio
The Tecno Camon 19 is quite impressive in terms of performance on all fronts for its price. I really enjoy watching YouTube videos on this device at the highest quality—the images are crisp clear and the colors pop as they should.
I’ve played FIFA Mobile, eFootball, and Call of Duty Mobile on this device and it has disappointed me. It heats up a little but the games rarely lag. If you love mobile gaming, the Tecno Camon 19 will without a doubt meet your needs.
The unit I’m using is the 4GB RAM version which I’ve found to be more than enough for a moderate phone user. You can always expand the RAM with MemFusion if you find the onboard RAM isn’t enough for you.
In the audio department, the Camon 19 comes with a single-bottom loudspeaker that is quite loud and I found it useful for watching movies. The provided earphones are average in quality and would suffice for occasional use and making calls.
The call quality is also awesome, with a great built-in mic and loud earpiece.
Tecno Camon 19 Battery Life
If you’re a moderate user, you’ll find the 5000mAh battery enough to last you a day or even two with the Tecno Camon 19. If you play mobile games occasionally and make long video calls, expect nothing more than a day on a single charge.
Social media, basic calls, and chatting will also get you more than a day on a single charge. Only video watching and gaming will take a toll on this device’s battery life.
Charging this device is quite fast considering its size thanks to the bundled fast charger that you’ll receive in the box alongside a Type-C charging cable. Be sure to always use the original charging accessories for the best charging speeds. Charging from 0-100 with the original takes about one and a half hours
How Much Does the Tecno Camon 19 Cost in 2023?
If you want to purchase this device, please check with your local Tecno supplier. The prices vary but not by much. If you want to get the device online, you can purchase it from Jumia if it’s available in your country. In Kenya, it’ll cost you between KES 20,000 and KES 25,000.
Should You Buy the Tecno Camon 19 in 2023
Whether you’re a heavy, moderate, or light phone user I’d recommend getting the Tecno Camon 19 given its price and great performance. Also, if you love big displays, you’ll love this device too standing at 6.8 inches.
I’ve been using the Tecno Camon 19 for four months now and I haven’t come across any concerning issues. The overall performance is still as good as when it was new and the hardware is still holding up. I haven’t dropped it yet.
